  • Did you manage to bag a Pheon Sermi comp?

Just driven 6 hours from a wind swept sodden Anglesey and have just checked my emails. Just seen that there's a new comp of one of my favourite Italian Library labels Sermi - so many wants . It's on Pheon (Jonny Trunk and James Painta's new cool label). 500 no repress.

Looks like they are already sold out from 11.00 this morning, did you get one? I unfortunately didn't - looks like I'll have to pay a premium on Discogs from some enterprising soul.

Did they sell out the whole run or were some sent to other distributors? Light In The Attic is still showing it on pre-order.

Good point. I hope some have made it through to some shops to give a fighting chance - I should do a bit more digging.

Maybe Mr Trunk will shed some light on it?

I'm sure copies will surface, though I'm a bit reluctant to order from States (Light in the Attic). I have a lot of respect for Trunk and Votary records - it's great to see them both collaborating on these Library re-issues.

Seems strange to sell out so quickly with no real publicity other than some hint dropping in Jonny's Friday emails but not impossible I bet some copies will surface somewhere at rrp.

They've got copies at Norman records online right now. I was also travelling on friday (stuck on a diversion from the closed M40 when the mail went out) so fingers crossed you get one too..
Light surface marks, sleeve is torn near centre of opening (due to rough removal of disk by a moron)

Release is March 4, I've just been told we're guaranteed to get stock

I must say that for a comp of one of the best libraries out there - and there are are lot of them as we know - 500 is a low figure to press

I'm in the dark on this one - I remember Jonny playing a track off the LP mentioned here the first time he guest DJed with me at SMERSH - I've wanted a copy ever since...

Ah the joys of working from home - the postman just delivered my pre-ordered copy from Norman's.

Rough Trade East still had a few copies as of this morning. Might be worth checking with them if no joy in sourcing one from elsewhere.

Hi there, thought I might clarify a few things. I wanted to do an SR comp about ten years ago. It was a nightmare to license, sort out back then etc and there were so many caveats (the LP must be pressed in two months etc, we must press it for you etc) I didn't bother in the end. Some of the SR LPs are owned by Cometa, some are in dispute. I wanted to do Open Air Parade (prob the best SR LP of all) but we were not allowed, and not allowed any tracks from that LP at all. We were not allowed any of the Intermezzi jazz cues, weren't allowed even to really say Sermi / SR or use any of the classic weird original artwork - at one stage they even sent us their own artwork to use, which was beyond gross. The LP we made is the best I think James and I could put together bearing in mind the restrictions - and it contains some superb, beautiful and peculiar music - exactly what the label was really all about. Stuff like this.

Also, our license was only for 500 copies, no repress, no digital etc. I had a hundred to sell via the Pheon for sale site which went in about 15 minutes. I got some more, but by that time my distributor had pre sold it to shops, and the USA, and it's important shops get these kind of LPs as they are the companies that have supported my record producing activities since I started. Worth also mentioning there are masses of library LPs and comp coming along on other labels. Some are decidedly average, some I'd call one trackers, and some, like Oriente Oggi by De Filippi (coming out on Cinedelic shortly I think) are incredible. There is also a chance that Cometa will be issuing OAP at some stage in the future. Who knows. They are mad.
