  • Funky prog

I'm in the middle of planning a mixtape. Here are a few of the candidates:
Jan Hammer – Don't You Know
    Robert Charlebois – Engagement
    Michael Chapman - Lescudjack
    A Band Called O – Coasting
    Steve Hillage –Unidentified Flying Being
    ELP – From The Beginning
Ray Manzarek - Begin The World Again
Kaz Lux album with Jan Akkerman
    Maggie Macneal –White Room
    Nina Hagen various
    Cold Blood various
Can - A Spectacle and others
Rare Bird – Dollars and others
    Gong – Shamal and others
Curt Cress Band – Avanti etc
    McDonald & Giles – Tomorrow's People
    Ralph Lundsten – Discophrenia
Ian Carr's Nucleus – Solar Plexus etc
Edgar Broughton Band – There's no Vibration But Wait
    Keef Hartley Band various
Guru Guru – Samba Das Rosas/Globetrotter
Goblin – Snip Snap and others
    Sweetsmoke – Just A Poke
Richard Schneider Jr – Dreamlike Land LP
    Seatrain – Flute Thing
    Walter Wegmuller
    Brainticket – Places Of Light

It feels like I've missed loads of glaringly obvious things, though. Any suggestions? I don't like the crazy time signature/jazz prog stuff that much (see Gentle Giant for further information). Or anything that involves elves and pixies. GO!

      Nina Hagen
curious what qualifies as prog from her catalogue?
Plenty of Vertigos like Manfred Mann Chapter three, Affinity, Collosseum but I cant guarantee for lack of elves.

Sorry - I'll stop for a bit now.

Some of these might be on the 'funky rock' end of things by the way.
