  • Recommended spy-themed albums

    Hello again folks,

I'm currently looking for good spy-themed albums, either from the 1960s or after. There are unspeakable loads of theme albums of often mediocre quality by Easy Listening artists, but original stuff as well such as these albums from the top of my head:

Anita Harris - Somebody's In My Orchard (1966)

Des Champ - The Bedside Bond (1966)

David Whitaker - Music To Spy By (1966)

    Thanks for your suggestions.

Picked this up today as it happens. Completely fab lp.
Teddy Randazzo - The girl from U.N.C.L.E.

Everyone tear down your own little wall
That keeps you from being a part of it all
Because you've got to be one with the one and all
You've just got to be close to it all

Are all the Lalo Schifrin and Quincy Jones LPs a bit obvious?

Spy from Istanbul! Great choice, and a lovely and rather scarce record.

An eagle eyed VG+er found a copy for me in a chazza.

Though not spy-tinged music but rather classic jazz...

Your thread, your choice, with the original ask for "good spy themed albums" ....

Oh and do you know the non-album but def spy themed Alan Copeland "mission impossible/ Norwegian Wood" mashup from 1968?

The unexpected segue from mission impossible to norwegian wood is a bit different.

You might still get the sound your after if you widen the theme to anything spy/crime/espionage related - a few more came to mind:

A more modern take...and a question; just curious but other than the fact she's holding a gun on the sleeve, how is that Anita Harris record a spy themed album?
you can hear colours when they rhyme...

The sound is very much spy jazz, and the cover kinda corroborates that impression. It reminds me very much of David Whitaker's other album from 1966 titled "Music To Spy By".
