  • The Lancashire Hustlers - Edith Was An Opportunist

I honestly can't remember the last time I heard a song I liked so much that I had to Google it immediately to find out who did it.
Three or four tracks into Andy Lewis' Soho Radio show on Saturday he played 'Edith', (sandwiched between Rosetta Hightower 'Big Bird' and The Bees 'Chicken PayBack).

And the most embarrassing thing? I already have it.
    Well done that VG+er IAN.
    Fantastic track!

Massive track in the Khanmobile. It's a scandal that their LP, a run of only 100 copies, is still available- and that first CD is equally good.

Has more than a hint of Steely Dan - nice track, thanks Ian/IAN

Wow! I'm amazed it's still available. I picked it up in a hurry after someone flagged it up on here, thinking it would disappear in the blink of an eye.

Exactly what I thought Tom! Really cool Donald Fagen vibe about the vocals...

Wow, thanks Ian...and you other fellows too. It's an honour to have our very own VG+ thread...an ambition realised.

Was a real surprise to turn up on the Andy Lewis show. He bought a record from me on ebay a while ago and I sneaked a promo copy of my band's album into the package - luckily for us he appears to have hoarding tendencies and didn't immediately bin it, instead turning it up months later in a last minute pre-show rummage through his flat.

Well, I've still got some vinyl copies of our last LP knocking around (heavy French vinyl with 3 postcard inserts). If anyone wants a copy, please send me a PM - a special VG+ discount will apply...

Thanks a lot amidar. Mainly drums and a bit of singing, but I also specialise in instruments at the slightly easier primary school end of the skill spectrum - tin whistle, tamboura, melodica, autoharp, glockenspiel, a bit of Les Dawson style piano....

funny how things happen. IAN - I was at college with Brent and still have my Groovers 7". Brent's involvement in the Lancashire Hustlers came up in conversation just last week with another old mutual friend of ours.
I know your game Lionel! I can see what you really are!
