I own records by The Wailing Wailers and the Vibrating Vibrations.

Sadly, the Wailers stopped wailing after their first lp, and the Vibrations only actually vibrated on one single.

Are there any other bands that leave the listener in no doubt as to what they do?

I would also like to hear more band names in which the backing band name is related to the singer's, e.g Mousie & the Traps, Cook E. Jarr & the Krums. I think it's a shame Gladys Knight didn´t perform under the name "Apple".

The Darling Dears (if we ignore '& Funky Heavy') and my favourite, 'Papa Bear and The Cubs'. Wish someone would reissue this.

Bernie Woods & The Forest Fires......that really is the best thing about them sadly.

Raga & The Talas have a bit more going for them thankfully

Good stuff so far. I've just remembered my Mickey and his Mice 45.

A couple of more obvious ones are Honey and The Bees, B Bumble and the Stingers and Link Wray and the Raymen.

I don't think this counts, being merely a reference to the singers surname, like James Brown and the JBs.

Link and the Chains would have been much better.

You're a hard man to do business with. What about Chain and the Gang, then? Does that meet your stringent criteria?

Yes, that's perfectly permissible. Robert "Kool" Bell must be kicking himself.
