  • Library OG check please?

I've had this library for years and have always assumed it's an original but when looking up some stuff last night I noticed my label is different!

I also notice from Discogs there is a recent reissue...which I'm fairly this isn't as it says it came out this year.

So I'm asking the VG+ library hive mind - what do I have here:

I would add that the Sonor Music Editions reissue hasn't actually been released yet. I've ordered mine and I think it's shipping mid-May.

Does anyone have any other sonor music edition Lps ? What's the sound quality like.

I have the roelens - research in sound it feels compressed and very quiet. they say it's legit, the label and sleeve have that faded yet bright look ; very boot-like. Should have returned it at the time. They press at mpo so although not perfect I still expect good sound quality.

I too have pre-ordered molino but at £27 if it doesn't sound good I'll return it.

Might seem a stupid question but how do you go about ordering the 'Sonor' series as the websites just seem to list the albums and show pictures etc?

You can go to their bandcamp page or wait until they hit our shores at somewhere like Juno.

Is it the flapback and the ring on on the label?

I've always been semi-interested in what constitutes an "original" library album. Any other collecting scene would insist on a 1st press - but plenty of titles, KPM for example, obviously pressed several runs over the years. My "Soul Organ Showcase" comes in the "clapperboard" sleeve, with the cool 3 colour label. So obviously the plain green sleeve must be a second edition. De Wolfes have different labels too...

Does anybody else know or even care? I doubt it...

I do...sort of. Some libraries got released on different labels and are more desirable. For example 'Ultra Pop Op' on Musique Pour L'Image is more sought after than the one on Sylvester - came out the same year etc but has a nicer sleeve. I'm not really too bothered to be honest but like yourself I'd prefer the one from the country of origin.

Here's a question - which one would you prefer Andrew, a copy of 'Music for a Young Generation' on KPM which can be had for around £40 or the later, commercial, release Hungry Wolf on Philips which will cost you about £200+ (and I foolishly traded the latter as I owned the former - d'oh!)? Same with 'Distortions Pop' and the Blue Phantom LP. I'd vote the commercial release for the KPM and the library for the Blue Phantom.

Just collected the sonor molino re-press. Sadly, the pressing is poor and at £27 I really don't get what I've paid for ; like a cheap 90's bootleg I have to force the disc onto the platter due to small spindle hole. The sound is horrendous really low volume makes trafico chaotico sound really feeble!

Worst reissue I've bought in years. Going straight back tomorrow
