i have just received some test presses and they seem quite noisy, the silent passages are not silent at all. sounds like a dusty record
should i ask them to do it again?
I had this as well - got asked to approve a T/P on behalf of someone - and thought some bits were crackly. After a couple of plays, it seemed to improve. Like yourself, I'm not sure to approve or knock back.
I might be over sensitive, I was playing twice as loud as I would normally, plus im so used to hearing it perfectly clear, as I mixed the album in the same room on the same speakers. but it you could hear the silent bits.
maybe its the static? going to play it again tonight. normally im making really noisy music so it doesn't matter. but this has quiet bits and opens with an accapella so I wanted it to be clear.
Yeah GZ through key productions, I normally use DMS, though they both use GZ so I cant imagine its the companies fault.
I had this with your Devizes LP (and with another). I let them know and they did some tests, turned out it wasn't the vinyl, it was your monstrous bass. They had to re-cut with a different specialist head (or whatever the technical word is).
Anyway, my point is that in both instances they said it was their fault and not just a bad test pressing.
I'd definitely bring it up because if it's not just a crap test pressing and is the laquer then your whole pressing will sound the same.
If you're going through DMS then they're very good at handling this and have always been honest with me.
