  • Picking the vg+ collective brain: Cage of Eyes

    Folks

I'd like to pick the collective brain. I found this yesterday in my local chazzer:

Lee Morgan & Stan Sheppard - Cage of Eyes (1985) Lakeland Records

I haven't listened to it properly but on 1st needle drop it's not exactly what I was hoping for ... jazz lite

Anybody have any info on this? The people or the label?

I'm betting that someone does ...

I thought I'd seen it before - it was mentioned on Waxidermy a while back in this thread : http://waxidermy.com/bbs/viewtopic.p...e+eyes#p853695

        but no more info.

the gear list and track titles would put a dampener on any initial excitement generated by title and cover IMO

Andy Sheppard is the only name I recognise on this and he started to get quite well known a couple of years later. Maybe he's related to the other Sheppard. A family affair private press?

Edit: they did a second LP in 1990 under the Morgan Sheppard Project name called The Literacy of Lunacy. Youtube skillz for dayz.

Good LP titles ... music may not live up to those ...

              Strong sleeve and title!

'Record manufactured and distributed in country of purchase' is a good line!

'More serious attitude' is a worthy last track' title too.

The one on the left looks like some British actor whose name I forget. He played a Nazi once, i think. It was a military uniform, anyway.

The one on the right, i mean. You know the bloke, always a bit intense. Bit like Pete Postlethwaite only bigger.

Are you thinking of Anthony Valentine in "Colditz" BC?

The guitar solo at 1.25 is the worst thing I've heard all day. And I've been listening to the Rah Band.

He looks like the army sergeant from the old Dr Who episodes.

I dig both this and the several other things these dudes are involved in. Strong sound. One of them lives in Texas I think. I dig.
