  • Kate Tempest

Being notoriously lazy in keeping up with "the times" I'm probably well late to this particular party. I was out driving on Saturday and Gilles was on the radio. He was featuring tracks from a forthcoming album by Kate Tempest, (hangs head in shame) an artist I'd never previously heard (of). I thought the tracks he played were stripped down almost to the point of nakedness, with superb lyrics and passionate delivery laid over the skeletal music. When I got home, of course Mrs Treeboy was aware of her, apparently she's been getting some airplay. So obviously not an under the radar artist for most people who keep on top of things. Anyone else impressed enough to pipe up?

No music, but this Australian tv performance is - as is said in the post title- powerful.

Old School Tramp shared a Kate Tempest track called 'Europe is Lost' on FB t'other day and it was compelling listening...like a downtempo rap. I'll try and find a link.

Xfm played her "Lonely Daze" track quite a lot when I was in hossie a couple of years back. Was one of the few things I heard during my two weeks of being addicted to the radio (a real lifeline at that point) that didn't actually make me incandescent with rage at the mediocrity of the mainstream stations.

Yep she's always come across as quite 'real' and talented when I've seen her on stuff. Isn't she part of the 'Big Dada' label. Must confess I'm getting further and further behind the times which is quite liberating to be honest.
