  • 'You'

OK, I now have two 45s of the same tune by two completely different artists:

    Shirley Scott 'You' (Atlantic)

The Groovin' Strings And Things 'You' (Cub)

Any idea who did the original?
This is certainly not the Spanky Wilson tune, is it?
(It just doesn't sound the same to me)

Also, for some odd reason, I've started a blog. A 45 a day, basically. Check it out, leave comments, tell me I'm wrong. Unfortunately, my scanner wheezed and coughed like an old man when I started it up this weekend (after 2 years hibernation), so graphics will have to wait.

Marvin Gaye's hit from 1967 was the definitive one - if you check the writer credits, I think it was a Norman Whitfield number. And you're right, the Spanky Wilson 'You' is a different song, which was either self-written or composed for her I think..
Let him have the lot for £2.00 - we were only going to throw 'em out anyway...

Nice one, sir, you are correct.

Now to find a copy of the Marvin Gaye version.

(Spanky Wilson 45 would be nice as well......)

          Thanks.
I thought about for a few weeks, and finally forced myself to do it.
Once started, not so difficult. If you ever want to contribute, let me know.
