      Tutankhamun’s Egypt (Derbyshire): Delia Derbyshire

Good to start with a fanfare, if possible.

      Madness (Shankar): Ravi Shankar

The indian classical + french avant-garde connection. No sitar, it would seem.

Sky, Horse and Death (Takemitsu): Toru Takemitsu

I was pleased to find this. I often find it difficult to cover the ‘sky’ and ‘horse’ components that compilations inevitably benefit from. Here they are together in one track. Also a ‘death’ component. Result!

Red Landscape (Sculthorpe): Austral String Quartet

Adding the desert landscape narrative gives a frame of reference for those ‘extended instrumental techniques’ that composers began to indulge themselves in during the late 60’s early 70’s.

Nearly Stationary (Cage): LaSalle String Quartet

Word is that the string quartet this is from was the fruit of Cage studying Indian music and culture. Predictably, large parts of the sq sound very English and almost folky. Only brief suggestions of that in this movement.

Apple Blossom (Garland): Black Earth Percussion Group

      Rather ethereal and very pretty.

Bronte (Ensemble de percussions de Paris): Ensemble de percussions de Paris

Now you have no excuse; next time that you hear one you’ll know it for what it is.

Timbales (Ensemble de percussions de Paris): Ensemble de percussions de Paris

Like it says on the packet.

Arithmophonie: Nombre Premier (Casterede): Ensemble de percussions de Paris

      A fun piece.

Ensaio Geral (N Sergio): Os Ritmistas Brazilieiros

From a Ben freebie. Thanks again Ben.

Study # 27 (Nancarrow): Robert Miller

Now kicking myself for not picking up those Nancarrow albums when I saw them.

Continuum for Cembalo (Ligeti): Antoinette Vischer

      [IMG][/IMG]

Only the one Ligeti track? And it is on a harpsichord! #[email protected]*!

Koto Music I (Sculthorpe): Michael Hannan

      [IMG][/IMG]

I tend to find that my attention wanders during this. But that seems appropriate, somehow.

Sinfonia (Beginning, Section II)(Berio): Swingle Singers

      [IMG][/IMG]

Missing a minute or so here. I won’t bore you with the details.

      Sonata XII (Cage): Robert Miller

      More weirdness from Cage. Right?

Three Pieces from Chu-U (Fukushima): Harvey Sollberger (& Charles Wuorinen)

      [IMG][/IMG]

A precis version of Takemitsu’s “November Steps”.

I must get over this fixation with “November Steps”.

Glad there is some anticipation! Although I would like to stress this shouldn't be seen as a companion piece to last years... if anything last years was more spiritually meaningful, to me at least...

For no good reason other than finding great music from unlikely artists or soures - I want to prove "The devil's got all the good music" maxim untrue. It's a collection of fuzz, beats, breaks, pop, electronics and catchy weirdness. I have faith (!) music lovers such as to be found on this board could find the contents enjoyable - even if the overtly Christian message may be unpalitable to some.

Recording has begun on mine - three broad directions it could go. Or if I fail to have a fully coherent 70 minutes it might mix them a bit but I'd prefer to make it coherent and consistent in tone.
Enthusiastic vagueness passes for scholarship in the twilight world of the disc-jockey.

Folk, Electronica with a Folk edge bit of ethnic percussive jazz, some Southern Rock and a bit of Xian I hope. I'm about 6-7 tracks in trying to stop myself going completely off track. I'll get the rough basis down then polish it up as a whole piece. Anyway its full of tunes I've really liked this year whether they be new or old or just tunes I've always liked mixed up with snippets of other records I've picked up this year and its coming across as funny, mournful and angry in equal measure I think which wasn't what I was going for but there you go. Like ETK I'm aiming for about 70 mins, probably just a shade under that.

Bloody car has broken down so am in no mans land with that as it stands waiting on a call. I hate cars, 'never fall in love with a car' best advice my Dad ever gave me. Can't concentrate on anything with that hanging over my head.

Here's my final track list for the 2016 swap.

After the Welsh related Wermod series of 2014 and 2015 I have decided to branch out a bit with an eclectic mix of drastic covers, femme vox eerie beats and Left field singer songwriters and orch funk bangers .
The addition of the Nancy Priddy track is because its the seldom heard Acetate mix with many differences. I realise the original has been used before, but in keeping with the forum's ethos I think share and share alike should be the order of the day

                              All Work No Plays

                              1. Rajah Rain-bird
