  • Fogo-Fogo - seeking a record label. African Collector´s - you will love this. Please keep it a secret for now.

    Hi everyone,

Long time no speak! I am back to Portugal , now living the dream, going to World music trade fairs, selling concerts worldwide

This year I´ll be working with upcoming projects dedicated to the Portuguese Diaspora, all the richness of rhythms from Cape Verde,Brazil, Moçambique, Angola...

Here´s a cult project from Lisbon called Fogo Fogo. They sell out every month a ball room called Casa Independente and passed the trial last summer in Boom Festival and Festival Andanças.

I trust you all not to share this on social networks yet.. We are looking for a Record Label to release a 45 and record an LP.

For now, would love instead to receive tips and your feedback about the promo EP and that you look at this private video and our first single.

I hope you will enjoy it as much as me. Cheers!

I'll look at this tomorrow. Sounds right up my street as I'm very interested in Cabo Verdean and Angolan music at the moment. Thanks for sharing, I'm looking forward to it.

Really good - I like the beach/YouTube version more than the Band camp one.

I like it a lot - they'd go down well at any of the festivals over here on the Canaries.

I was watching a folk group here a few weeks ago who were scraping a specially-made sword with a knife to get a similar sound to the Cape Verdean ferrinho. They told me it derived from Spain, but I'm wondering if it's more Portuguese.

There's a lot of interest in Angolan rhythms all over Latin America right now. I think that started in 2010 with the big reggaeton hit Danza Kuduro.
        Vardy.....¡¡¡PELIGRO!!!

Glad you are enjoying it guys. I believe Ferrinho is really a Cape Verdean instrument. Will come back at you with that info.

In fact the band is made by very busy musicians that have other projects. We have a cult around it in Lisbon and are keen to present the band in Europe the next couple of years. So far I am gathering the attention of Summer Festivals in Portugal and will do my best to premiére in UK this year.
Wouldn´t you say that Analog Afrika or Soundway records are ideal labels for this? Any other suggestion?

There´s a fabulous article explaining the pshycadellic sounds of the keyboard, it involves a ghost ship. A fantastic reading

          Thank you

Great story in that article. Thanks for sharing. Surely the seeds of a film in there somewhere?
Everyone tear down your own little wall
That keeps you from being a part of it all
Because you've got to be one with the one and all
You've just got to be close to it all

Absoluetely, for now we are preparing a mini documentary explaining this rhythm and its origins. Seeking a label that wants to see this on wax
