Syd Barrett's Barrett, bootleg check...

I recently picked up a copy of this thinking it was an late 70s / early 80s press but the more I look at it the more I'm convinced it's a boot. Does anyone here know a good site to check what I've actually got? Discogs hasn't got it listed, the Pink Floyd Archive site I looked at only had the official releases listed and I don't want to spend too long digging around such places as it just makes me feel worse (and not just because I bought a bootleg ).

It's a textured sleeve, not flipback, no barcode, quite yellowed with age which is why I thought late 70s / early 80s. The labels are very clean, Harvest green/yellow, no emi logo on the a side but it's there on the b-side. The text on the labels matches the 1st & 2nd pressings but having looked at the pictures on discogs there are some (very minor) differences in alignment / kerning, which makes me thinks it's a boot rather than a repress. Matrixes are as on the 2nd press too.

If anyone's vaguely interested I'll post pictures, otherwise any help in where I could go and scratch this itch would be appreciated.

I also got a copy of The Madcap Laughs at the same time which I'm 99% sure is the second pressing. I haven't had the chance to listen to either yet, both of which I've managed to avoid until I got a decent vinyl copy so I'm jonesing to give these a spin.

I'm sure I've come across a copy like this and I assumed it was a legit later press, probably mid 70s.

For everyone else, my phone's not helping me upload the pictures but I'll get them up later next week. There are a couple of inconsistencies with the '82 pressing listed on Discogs, namely the absence of the EMI logo and the different 'Unauthorised...' text at the bottom of the label but it certainly feels like it's from around that time. As long as it's not a boot I'll be happy.

Primarily I don't think there's a good reason to support / defend bootlegging so I try not to. That's a generalisation and I could think of an exception or two but without getting into specifics that's my general stance.

For those that want to know, the stamper id's are GD 1 and L 1 for the a & b side respectively, I don't think they show up in the photos.

Fair enough, especially for an officially released LP and presumably not impossible to find in one form or another.

I have a fondness for particularly shoddily produced bootlegs, including Taiwanese ones and 70s punk bootlegs. I've also had some atrocious ones that sound like they were recorded through a cushion.

I wish I still had my Aztec Camera Live at Devilles bootleg cassette, even though I don't have anything to play it on now.

About Hayes' suspected bootleg, could it be a mix-n-match job?
Unscrupulous person with two copies of different re-issues, one P/VG and one VG+/P, mix them up to make a perfectly salable VG+/VG.
40£ instead of 5£+5£?
It has happened before, you know. I've been caught out once or twice, usually with fly-by-night sellers at a show or something.

Cratedigger, that's always possible. I'd like to work out which issue the lp is though. No word back from the other site I emailed earlier this yet, hopefully they'll shed some light on it. Nail biting stuff.

I need to check my Barrett now....that looks very convincing. I certainly know mine isn't an OG...just assumed it was a later 70s EMI press. It has a textured sleeve.
