  • Crappy redesigned sleeves for records that didn't need a redesign

Recently picked up a very very cheap copy of the Monkees Head, a few tracks of which I'm very fond of (Porpoise Song etc), but the front cover is an abomination. I think I might get an artist friend to paint over it.

    Here it is:

    See what I mean?

Any other offenders you'd care to mention? I'm thinking of an LP that was re-issued recently with a kid's drawing of the band on the front. Execrable cover, you know who you are!

I'm too lazy to post up the picture but I hate the 1972 UK reissue of The Appletree Theatre LP (and I own the reissue).

              I'd forgotten about this:

              original

              reissue, not a little scary:

I actually like it when it's obvious it's a later issue. And I like artists' faces on sleeves.

I like different sleeves for euro pressings as well.

Mexico wasn´t impressed by Forma's minimalist black, white and red colour scheme

I remember they did this with Approved By The Motors.

Apparently the boys were considered too grim looking and off-putting to capitalize on the Airport hit.
So they quickly re-released it with an anonymous picture with some windscreen wipers.

And at least over here, the MOT guys would not have approved of that wiper leaving a streaky film on the windscreen.

To make matters even worse - the Hallmark issue has the dreaded "electronically reproduced Stereo" effect applied
