  • May 2017 New Releases

Couldn't find a thread if it does exist, so started one. Driving home last night listening to the excellent Tom Ravenscroft show, we had a "pull the car over" moment. He played a track from the forthcoming Heliocentrics lp - World Of Masks. Only one tune available to listen to online at the moment, which is not the one he played, but it would be worth listening to the show on the iPlayer to hear it. First of all I thought it was some long lost track featuring Proud Mary, the Swiss singer, but was amazed that it's brand new. Ordered the lp when I got home anyway. Preorders include a lovely Gold vinyl gatefold if you like that kind of thing. I do.
While checking that one out, also on pre-order is a soundtrack Heliocentrics have done for an interesting looking film -The Sunshine Makers. Yep! LSD related. Listened to a couple of tunes (didn't need to really, would have bought on sight) and it's excellent.
Both releases on Soundway. Available through them, Bandcamp etc.
They are doing a show at Rich Mix soon which should be tremendous.

I love the 'Heliocentrics' double LP looks like it's going to be pretty epic. I'm just about to listen to the new Ghost Box LP 'Toi Toi Toi' which dropped yesterday and dropped on my mat this morning interestingly 'State51conspiracy' have changed their packaging to the safer fold out style cardboard mailers (whatever they are called) and come with a corrugated plastic stiffener.

New live album of improvisation by Zofff out too which you can get direct from the label here.: http://dronerockrecords.com/ or usual outlets, I know Normans have it. Only 300 and you can listen to the whole thing here. https://zofff.bandcamp.com/album/kozfest-mmxvi

Ordered both tree boy. Thanks for heads up.

My order of the new Jon brooks came and I got round to opening it up. Bloody thing wasn't even in it's sleeve and used one of them plastic stiffeners you mention amidar. As i opened the package the record fell out sliding down the corner of my table leaving a great bloody mark down side A. Thankfully not affecting playback... Maybe I'm as clumsy as people say I am...

Damm, I was on a flat surface when I opened mine but did notice it sliding around on that plastic stiffener so probably something to watch out for shrink wrapped or not in your case. I had at least 3 chances to pick up the first run of that Jon Brooks album and was skint each time so I suppose I'll have to wait for the repress now. Everything I get from people who have heard it is that it's superb.

It's very ambient. Not like his other records I have.
              Good though

Posted this elsewhere but picked up the new Greg Foat/Hampshire & Foat LP last week. It's a great listen (analog recording/mastering) if you're into the late 60's/early 70's output of Mike Westbrook, Rendell/Carr, etc:

Light surface marks, sleeve is torn near centre of opening (due to rough removal of disk by a moron)

This was listed as June 2017, but some stores seem to have this already...

Masuru Imada Trio + 2 "Green Caterpillar" - Le Tres Jazz Club- European reissue of high grade Jazz based gem... sensible price of around 22 Euros

                      Goes a bit like this...
