  • Summer swap technical question

Help needed chaps - I can't get my bastard computer to record in Stereo, it only records in Mono . I'm using a dead basic Music and Video Maker program and mini-disc to mini-disc line (vague I know...) from my decks to the speakers (which has a microphone point) and in the back of the computer but still no joy. I can record on to a mini-disc using all the same leads etc and that works fine. Anybody got any ideas?

If you're looking for a pristine copy then this isn't the one for you. The vinyl looks like someone has polished their brickwork with it and the label has been ruined by some fool with a pen.

Delay 68 - can I divert you for a bit, 'cos you may be able to help me! What sort of cables do I need to connect from a minidisc to the computer via the microphone socket? Any help gratefully received!

You need a to go to maplin and buy a cable with 3.5mm jacks. You know the end of your headphones. If they can fit into your mini-disc then that is a 3.5mm jack. You should be able to one with those at both ends.

Failing that you can make one with a 'split y' cable. This will have a headphone socket with a 3.5mm at one end and two phono outs (male) at the other end. Then you will to get an adaptor which connects the two phono's (female) back to 3.5mm.
