  • Best of Brillo 4 - this Friday! Rollcall!

Ok, so it's deffo on this Friday - sorry there hasn't been time to make a email flyer - though if anyone has a spare hour, lemme know...

Just want to get a quick idea of how many people we'll be having this time around - it's usually about 15.

Usual method: sign up early gets you a more juicy second spot. I may swap a few slots around, purely to ensure it's a mixed bag (to avoid three slots in a row of funk or early hip hop etc). We'll just play it by ear and get rip roaringly drunk!

Mate - I should be there, but I don't know how early I can get there. I might have to attend a 'function' before hand - won't know until midweek.

      Deffo want to play though.

I'm definitely gonna be there and will have records to play. Prepare for Spanish ska funk, for starters! .. bringing a mixed bag, mostly funk gear but including some 80's hip hop.

Rich Hero / Hadrian Elephant - sorry I can't offer you guys a lift as me and the missus are gonna be travelling by train and staying overnight in London. Sorry guys.
If you're looking for a pristine copy then this isn't the one for you. The vinyl looks like someone has polished their brickwork with it and the label has been ruined by some fool with a pen.

Errr, gotcha! Dont expect straight up funk from me Nick, but as I promised ya last week, nothing I play will be any less than heavy steppers. If I can get the Salmon to bounce to old school hymns inna funk vein, anything is possible right?

              Never underestimate the Brillo crowd.

Maybe this is cos its made of of all of our mates and mums?

                    I'm in.
Do we have to play serious music or can we put silly records on?

We're playing to a room full of 'citizens', so it doesn't have to be serious music per se, but you have to play something to get/keep the crowd dancing.

I know that I'll be keeping the tempos up and the beats hard, so coming on after me armed with nowt more than a rare 45 of Derek Griffiths sings 'Jackanory' ain't gonna cut the mootard. !

Most definitely short spots, regardless of how many DJs we have. The idea here is to keep things moving, different styles etc - makes for a most interesting evening, no indulgent 'journeys into sound' bollocks, ha ha!

As for silly records etc - just bear in mind it's a Friday night crowd, out to have a good time...
