  • Georgie Fame / Alan Price TV Special on BBC4

Anybody else catch this at the weekend? Blooming Marvelous with a great version of Seventh Sun and Thelma Housten doing a great version of Jumpin' Jack Flash with top arrangements from Reg Guest!

Was there a whole series? Any DVD/Video Issues?

There was a whole series, but only two of them still exist - the BBC 4 thing was a compilation of the two survivors.

I've seen a clip from one, and I'm pretty sure the drummer was the great Alf Bigden - looked like him, as far as I could tell.

It's very nice - should be cheap too - dunno about the LPs though.

Can anybody name this song PLEASE?

I know this is an old thread but I wondered if anybody
can name this song and where it originated?

In the BBC TV programme 'The Price of Fame'
Alan sang a song and for ages I have been trying
to find the title of the song, who wrote it, and
if Alan ever recorded it. Any body know, please???

"More and more as time goes by
I try to put an end to my philandering
          and love a girl.
Somehow it's so hard to find
the kind of girl who stops your mind
          from wandering to other girls.
When I see a pretty face
I feel my heart begin to race excitedly
          and my head spins
          Soon the sweet excitement dies
and I begin to criticise and disagree
with little things, such silly things.
And so at the end of it all
          I'm still searching for love
My friends all seem to fall
but I'm still searching for love.

In your teens it common law
to run around with girls galore
and who's to blame when none you love.
          Later it becomes a bore
to give the world and so much more
to settle down with one you love.
If I live a life of ease
and if I'm much too hard to please
the blame is mine and mine alone
But I know some girl somewhere
will win my heart and make me care
and in good time we'll have a home
          with kids of our own.

And so at the end of it all
          I'm still searching for love.
My friends all seem to fall
but I'm still searching for love.
More and more as time goes by
I try to put an end to my philandering
          and love a girl. "

it looks like it was unique to the show.

I am so disappointed thought I might be told the answer at last but as you say - the quest continues..................

"are you in charge of the forum then mate?"
                    Yep!

and Barrence - I have asked on there ages ago with no response whatever
                    but thanks for the reply.

theres a lp by the two of them called "price and fame/together" i think, i dont recognise the lyrics from it though but have not listened to it for a while but im guessing you already know about this lp and I guess flytipper, your other half does too.

I have that LP and it's not on that one, in fact I have practically all Alan Price's LPs, CDs, etc. and can't find
this song on any of them. Thanks for reply - I shall keep looking
