I only caught the part where the interviewed the financier of Deep Throat (I think) who said the mob guys were very very very 'helpful' in dealing with distributors!

Assassinations via car bomb, extortion, etc etc.

Talk about Brian records being a 'tax write-off!'

Two of them got the boot last night. I wanted Saira to get the elbow and James to stay. Didn't you watch it all? Actually, Paul and James were on BBC Breakfast this morning and Paul was as unbelievably arrogant as ever. His response when asked if he learnt anything from the experience was along the lines of no, but he was certain that the others learnt from him. Twat!

I honestly thought Paul was gonna win it. He's arrogant and aggressive sure, but so what? I liked him (Callum hates him) and you could see Alan Sugar almost grinning everytime he grilled him! I think Alan should've gone with his gut in regards to Paul - he could've calmed him down.

I think Tim's a good lad and I hope he wins it, but I dunno if he has what it takes - he certainly hasn't demonstrated great strategy - everytime he does, it's naive and backfired...

I knew he'd fire what's his name, the posh one. Simply because he's too posh! I don't understand why he was on the show either.

And Saira is just nuts - she's totally crap and is only on the show to keep the ratings up.

But also, this show isn't playing fair with the viewers. They keep revealing stuff about the contestents: how are we supposed to make reasonable judgements about who's gonna win when the program keeps witholding info? And Alan still hasn't revealed exactly what the winner will be doing...

Oh my god, that was the most homo-erotic piece of clothing I'd ever seen! That's not the exact model, Rich. The one on the show was way worse!

I read a really good article bemoaning the fact that all the women on the show were thick as pig shit. The reason why (put forward by the article) - was that no woman in her right mind would quit her job just for the *chance* of winning this thing.

Hence all the girls were fruit loops and utterly useless (Adelle? being my fave total windbag nutcase).

That was the fault of last night's show - it revealed more about the selection process but, on the basis of the criteria considered, many of them (James for a start) shouldn't have been on the show in the first place.

I'm not sure that Tim has got what it takes, although good luck to him. I liked James in spite of his poshness and he probably would have done well had he won. But Paul was a loose cannon and would just have been a liability (he seriously thought that Sugar needed him to troubleshoot problems within the Empire?!?). And Saira was basically a barrow boy (barrow girl?). No subtlety, only one way to crack a nut and if the hard sell and telling people what they wanted to hear didn't work she was sunk. Sugar fired Maryam too soon, she appeared more competent than Saira or Paul.

Still, looking forward to the final - it's had me hooked from the start.

did anyone else hear Roy Budd being used as a segue on a city scene in Apprentice last night? good to hear Thief On The Prowl in a sensible TV context - menacing and pensive.

the debbie does dallas programme was an interesting show. more good tunes - me and baby brother, a wicked tune by Defunkt (forget which one) sneaking in for a few bars too. if you think that the Debbie story's horrific, you want to do some reading around about deep throat...

re: apprentice - i think sugar's on crack. tim - nice guy but no cigar. no experience. could be moulded more effectively than the others. strong people skills. saira - clearly mad. worst people skills i've ever seen, unless you count as a bonus the ability to piss off people you've never met before in under 2.7 seconds. sugar sacked maryam. big mistake. there was an interesting segment where he seemed to confide as such in his advisors. james was personable, experienced, flexible, impressive - but why was he on the show? neither paul nor james could answer that question in any depth or in a believable way. why was paul so defensive?

why would anyone want to apply for a job they know nothing about?

Agreed. I don't think any of the finalists are really suitable and Miryam was good, though she was totally spineless when it came to hopping onto the balme train whenever she was in the firing line and I think that rubbed Alan up the wrong way.

She also had a cracking pair of tits! Big mistake!

On second thoughts, I think Tim's the best choice out of the lot, including Miryam. Ok, so he's inexperienced, but isn't that the point? It's called the Apprentice after all. And I think given the chance, he should do ok - and if he doesn't well after a year they can demote or let him go. The airtime and exposure Alan Sugar's got out of this is well worth the salary paid to the winner for one year.

The show's been using tracks from that Budd remix thing all the way through. Another thing I like about the show is the high production quality - lots of really nice arial shots of the city, really nice. If Channel 5 made this, it would've been so, so bad!

OK, so I haven't really been watching this show.. but am I missing something here? If that's a mistake it's one I'd certainly be willing to forgive..
