  • Digging for treasures

This last week i took a vacation from my J O B. So i went digging. At first i was going to dig in new orleans but when i got there i ended up not spending alot of time there since i dont really know the spots. So i kept going and stopped in Baton Rouge and hit up some places then continued on to Lafayette stayed the night. Did some more digging in Lafayette then headed home but stopping in New Orleans on the way back and hit up a few places. Below is a list of some of the stuff i got. I got a bunch of 45's and i didnt have the time to type them up. Also just about everyone of these LP's i paid cost fifty cents or a dollar. The last place i went to in New Orleans the guy charged 2 dollars a record and a got a couple from him but most of these i got for a dollar or less.

Al Hirt - "Honey in the Horn"
As far as i know Soul in the Horn is the only one to pick up but i thought ill give it a chance.
    Angelo Bond - "Bondage"
Bert and I - "And Other Stories from Down East"

Sly and the Family Stone - "Small Talk"
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles - "The Tears of a Clown"
    Sun - "Sun Power"
The vinyl is clear orange which is nice but they play quite a few slower songs. Oh but according to the back of the record Jesus is apart of the band so they got that going for them. It's not Jesus really but on the back they have drawings of all the members in boxes and one sticks out big time with his long blonde hair. Real name ernie knisley. But we know Jesus tried to make it as a band member thats why you havent heard from him lately.
    The Sylvers - "Something Special"
    Tania Maria - "Taurus"
    T-Connection - "Magic"

Steady B - Going Steady/Ego Trippin' *Still Sealed*
    2 Much - Work it Out 12"

Dennis Coffey and the Detroit Guitar Band - "Scorpio"/"Sad Angel"
I dont need to talk about this one. Scorpio plays good but Sad Angel has too much noise.
Disco Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes - "Get Dancin""Get Dancin Part 2"
Very disapointing but i can use a vocal snippet from the guy talking.
Dixiebelles - "Rock Rock Rock"/"(Down at) Papa Joe's"
No date on this 45 but its on Sound 7 Stage. Rock Rock Rock is appealing but i didnt care for Papas Joe's too much.
Electric Light Orchestra - "Dreaming of 4000"/Don't bring Me Down"
    Nice 45
Jay Zainey Orchestra and Chorus - "Universal Pageant System Official Theme Song"
Jorgen Ingmann & His Guitar - "Apache"/"Echo Boogie"
His version of Apache is fine but the drums are almost completly gone. But the real winner here is Echo Boogie where his uses the echo of a guitar riff to make a nice song.
Marvin Gaye - "A Funky Space Reincarnation (Part 1)"/Part 2
Nightlife - "Town Drunk Sam"/"You Are the only one"
This is a local 45 made in Bay St. Louis Mississippi. Not that great but "Town Drunk Sam" is entertaining and can provide an entertaining vocal sample.
Reggie Walker - "Depression"/"I'm So Glad"
Depression is like Tears Of a Clown in that its an upbeat song with down in the dumps lyrics.
Rhythm Heritage - "Theme from S.W.A.T."/"I Wouldn't Treat A Dog"
