Lyrio Panicali and His Orchestra : Dancing Teens : Regal

Anybody knows more about this ? It's from 1967 and has some KILLER cuts in a "teen beat meets jazz orchestration" kinda way. Loads of female scat, stringy arrangements, funky organ and jazzy flute... Great stuff !

Songs are credited to R. Pinto, C. Imperial, R; Carlos, S. Seis, G. Nunes...

Could this be something Spanish, maybe ?? Somehow I'm not sure about the artist's name... Sounds like an alias...

    Also got:

    Toots Thielemans / Philip Catherine And Friends : s/t : Key-Tone
GREAT 70's Toots with Placebo guitarist Catherine and Key Tone label boss Chris Hinze on flute... Very euro jazz funky in places, a terrific album ...

Ekseption : (new formula) Bingo : Philips
more euro fusion jazz - I never bother with Ekseption when I find their albums on the flea but talking about Catherine to my friend in this store led to Placebo and that's when he recommended this album from 1974. Very convincing euro funk by this Dutch lot.

    Oi

Lyrio Panicalli is a brazilian maestro and producer; he was involved in the production & arrangement of records for some big names of samba, balanço and bossa nova in the 60´s & early 70´s. I know he made some pop albums, but I never listened to them, cos´ I always thought they were some kind of crap. Live & learn!
I´ll keep an eye out for this one you found, though.

    Peace

      Thanks !!

The LP is a UK release and all titles are in English so I'd have no idea what the original would be named.

Hmm, I'm into 60's and 70's Brasil, too - so this is defnitely a name I'll remember !

Yeah - learning every day. Gotta love records !

        Cool!

It´s a shame I don´t know the record you found, if so I could suggest some other titles in the same vein.
Could you, please, post the tracklisting? I´ll try and translate the titles to Portuguese; thus, I can identify the record and its brazilian version, and maybe find it too.

        Peace

            Many thanks.

I identified almost all the tracks (minus 3); now it´s easier to identify the Panicalli´s album and find others similar to it. If so, I´ll send you a message.
All the tracks are from the ie ie ie / jovem guarda period, and were huge hits at that time.

            Peace
