Can anyone tell me which album / how I can get, the eightish minute version of The Ghetto by Donny Hathaway.

Got the stormin 15 min live call and response version and an 45 edit version. I used to have a eight minute version, but lost the CD... Now I need it again.

    Thanks in advance.

I think it came out on one of those cheap as chips WEA 12"s a year or so ago? Good quality, loud pressing. Should still be copies around I would have thought.

...and also "jealous guy". no weak track! and the best thing, you can get it for really cheap! wished there were more records like that...

I recently saw a euro jazz lp on the bay which contained a cover of 'the ghetto' under a different title. I can't remember what it was called at all, anyone know anything bout it?

Yes absolutely, never fails to send shivers down my spine, make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end... etc in the best way of course

What would you give to have been in the crowd?

an arm? yup. i would give up an arm i think.

a couple of bits from the album are regularly going round in my head. the opening chords from "you've got a friend" just stop everything else dead. and willie weeks' walking bass in the breakdown about 3/4 of the way through "everyting is everything" gets me air-bassing. if there is such a thing as air-bassing, that is. oh, and "little ghetto boy" is even better than the one on the charleston blue ost. soaring vocals.

The version of "The Ghetto" by La Clave is also good, more of a latino style slow smoker.
