  • Anyone have any blank 45s

I'm after a blank 45 for turntable calibration purposes... I even ordered a 45 from ebay that said it was a test press with a blank B side, but it wasn't blank - ironically enough, the A side is quite nice, sits well with a Little Barrie or some other funky rock tune...

Still doesn't quench my thirst for a flippin blank 7 though - anyone know where one can pick one up oneself?

the andy votel "salted tangerines" 7 is one sided with a blank b side if memory serves me correctly (and a brilliant track with malcolm mooney on the a side an' all)...it was pretty limited but you should be able to get hold of one still (i have a spare if not...)

i think i might have a blank 12" you can borrow if you like but id' want it back...

presume this is for anti-skating setting... the basic rule is to set it to the same value as the number of grams on the arm. so a Stanton 500 at 4gms would need '4' (although 1200/1210s only go up to 3...), and then have it at 0 for scratching. i can explain the science bit too if you're interested!

I *think* I have a one sided 45 - The Capitols 'Soul Brother, Soul Sister' on Karen.

When do you need it for, cos it might take a little bit of diggin around at home.

I wanted one to help calibrate whatever decks I use wherever I'm DJing, that rule of thumb is useful, Bongolia, thanks, but sometimes the counterweights have no numbers, or are shoved thru and inaccurate...

            I'll get by!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but do you actually need a blank 45 for calibration or would a blank 12" played at 45 work just as well, Nick?
You freeking scientologists are all the same, quible, dribble and then demand ice creams. Ohhhhhhhhhhh.

Yeah of course! Didn't mean to specify a 45... probably cos the one that arrived was meant to have a blank side, but didn't... Guess that stuck in my head when I put the post up.

In that case, if it's any help, I *think* I may have a spare stereo test record with the appropriate blank anti-skating test band. I'll have a look...

If all else fails I have a one-sided 10" you can have (on the musical side: "Contrazoom" by Spacer).

But of course the postage is a bit steep from NZ.

Actually that thing should be on my trades list anyway...

Quasimoto's Astronaut 12" is one sided - that shouldn't be too hard to find if you still need it...
