  • It's the brillo playlist/report aug 03!

August’s Brillo was a major blowout special, with record numbers of Brilloites, despite notable absences by regulars Greg & Sermad, and several civilians that came down especially for the night, including our regular stalker. Despite the wifebeater (Stella) being warm cos the barrels were too big to cool properly, a jolly good time was had by all – nice to see one of our American friends and a special contingent from Reading. Fair bit if trading going on, in fact, maybe Brillo trades should be declared too – anyone care to volunteer their spoils?

Without further ado, here’s what got played – I can’t read everyone’s drunken scrawls too well sometimes, so apologies for spelling errors. If you post the correct title, I’ll edit them in.

Frank Williams: You got to be a man
Orchestra Boabab: Kelen Ati Len (all-time killer, stands tall against any US recording, one of the top funk records ever in my book.)
              Magnificent Zeinians: Ije Udo
              ROB: More
              Night train: making tracks
amrals trinidad cavaliers: 90% of me is you

Syl Johnson: walk a mile in my shoes

Syd Jones and the Gay Troubadours: cardova

Good luck on finding a Blattner - I believe a 45 only release, with the last one I saw on a list going for about £175.

The one on the bay not that long ago went for tippedy top dollar too.

The unfortunate side effect of certain funk mixes... oh well. Maybe someone can boot it, cos it's such a hot tune.

Not that it matters much, just thought I'd make a slight correction to this 'un - it's actually called 'Get Moving (with Younger's Tartan)', credited to Father William, on a Lyntone flexidisc. Possibly the greatest advertising flexi ever (though I still don't have 'Rhythm and Crunch'......)

Well, not that I want to suggest that you're wrong, but erm... you're wrong

This is, to give it it's full disc credits...

'Scottish Magic' by Youngers Tartan 'The Hickory'

..indeed produced by the mighty Lyntone (LYN1982).

                            So, this other one then....worth a punt y'say ?

Well, I thought it was going to be *my* but that's blown because of 1) Publishing it on my playlist & 2) Someone's beat me to it.

I must try harder, I must dig deeper.....

Anyway, it is cracking track, and there is another one on the LP that I like equally as much. He's no one tracker that Rupert y'know.
