• Hot, funky & sweaty thurs 21 (tomorrow)

So... For who shall I be setting out the silver service tomorrow night then, for the banquet of blusey rocky funk courtesy of Little Barrie? It's gonna be interesting because it turns out that they're also doing a free gig at the Elbow Rooms the next Monday. Interesting because I want the quieter Little Barrie and not the over-amped in a reflective room Little Barrie that I've heard of late. I'm also trying to get them to play Shrug Off Love and the other, slower on on the flip of that first single cos they're still my fave tracks. I'll go check them at the e.Room next week and check the difference - last time they were there, the venue hired this enourmous PA that towered behind them, all I heard was the PA and very little Barrie...

Then of course we have the mighty Greg Belson bringing up the flank, plus me, and hopefully this guy I met at an earlier Barrie gig in Stokey, called Ben. He was playing some fuckin great psyche stuff, went perfect with everything else. He's not really a DJ, a little hard to pin down, but he had tunes!

    So, who's coming then?

All I can say right now is to come early because it is gonna be rammed! (Colin reckons there'll be 80-100 just from his end alone) There's been a lot of calls about this one, LB will be playing their best, as quite a few label bods will be there (they're currently in negotiation with a bunch of people, LB are going big v.soon) Plus there'll be a little surprise in store... say no more guv.

                    Hmmm, not bad...

....... Actually, it was fan -f***ing-tastic!

                    What a band!

And props to Boss Hog for the awesome blues funk afterwards (and for Serms little trip into swinging and exotic moments).

Deffo worth being knackered this morning!

Top evening's entertainment Nick! (With a 'We are Little Barrie' count of six ). Especially enjoyed the MC/Sly Stone jam to close their set. And top support from the Lords. What was that Anne Sexton tune Bels - Si told me but I forgot.

                      Awesome!

                            BASTARD!!!!!!!!

I had to leave rather swiftly last nite, minutes before the band began to play due to an ill girlfriend attack. Never, ever again.......
I just cant believe how many times I've wanted to see LB play and had my plans scuppered by fiendish cosmic forces! And now mortals are fucking with my shit too!!!

I guess it's in the stars when I see this bloody band cos I dont seem to have any control over it!

Can I get an Incredible Sulk down-turn smilie please?

Still Belson and Nick niced up the dance with some real heat for the feet, very nice job lads.

BTW.......did anybody else think it got real tren-deeeeeeee in there? Were they all label bods then or just fashion wankers?

Still they filled the place out, bought lots of beers and generally brought in the dollars which cant be bad for LB, Nick or the Salmon I guess.

Cheers Nick. And I thought it was just me musing about the trendy element (they always seem to suck the enthusiasm out of their environment), not that it made a difference to the night. I was more bemused by the hairy rockers. I've never noticed them at an LB gig before (maybe Stokey was past their bedtime ).
