• When did this become a £50 record?

I know Record Kingz is pricey but Jesus!! It's pretty common still isn't it?

That's Julian's website, so don't be surprised by prices.

Come on now fellas! Let's not diss Julian, I always get on well with him in the murky world of eBaying.

Some of these prices are a bit ludicrous, but it's not people like you and me who buy them. All that kind of stuff flies off to the USA and Japan. And it's got to the point now where you just think 'good luck' to him cos it seems that all he has to do is say that something's sick, ill, dope or double def fresh and those producer types with more money than sense spuff all their cash on his wares!!

Live and let live really (except for Boogiejuice), we'll just keep finding records like that for a quid and let the inflated prices only affect those crazy kids overseas.

      Benicio

PS Does anyone know who the very committed buyer on eBay is that goes by the tag 'mmcm68' ? I had a feeling it was Mixmaster Mike, but now I'm not too sure.

He bought some libraries off me a while ago and I seem to recall he has a record label in the US but I'm pretty sure it's not Mixmaster Mike.

I'm not dissing him for charging £50 for a record. It's just it seems to be ten times the price it was a couple of years ago which surprised me somewhat. I thought it was a common record. Maybe I was wrong though.

Everyone's fascinated by mmcm68. He seems to grab anything and everything on the bay regardless of the price.

same here. he's really interested in the best stuff - looks for recommendations all the time and is open to new suggestions.

perfect customer too - pays really quickly, friendly.

I wasn't dissing Julian really, record dealers have bills to pay, which is why they usually overprice everything, though there were a few reasonable things on his site that is tempting me... Dealers like making things 'hot', since even they can't charge top dollar ofr everything and expect loyal customers... Guess that record is currrently on the hot list.... He has the Neiman LP for twice as Mark Res and that's probably vice versa for something else. Such is the way of life...

You did. But in hindsight, I wouldn't have done it. Not really into the Niemen...

the large amounts demanded for stuff by Recordgirl/king is a regular topic, so i'll stay off that as it wouldnt be difficult to guess what i think of them in that regard...

but looking through his/her lists, i do wonder if they have actually listened to some of the stuff...here is one...

THE VERY THOUGHT OF YOU (GENTLE RAIN STYLE) £20.00
HERE IS A FANTASTIC EASY LP WITH A SERIOUS FUNKY TUNE AND BREAK WHICH SOUNDS JUST LIKE A TRACK FROM THE "GENTLE RAIN" LP "CALLED "MOODY" REAL WICKED COULD BE A DJ TUNE SAMPLE OR GREAT TO LISTEN TO.DUSTY FINGERS HEADS WOULD LIKE THIS RECORD.MORE NICE EASY TRACKS AND GROOVES UPON THIS LP WHICH IM SURE IS NOT EASY TO FIND AT ALL. ARTIST : DAVID ROSE ORCHESTRA LABEL : CIRCLE OF SOUND "U.K." CONDITION : NEAR MINT/NEAR MINT YEAR : 1974

hmmm..sounds like Moody eh.....errr...dont remember screeching violins all over everything on that one.... the above record is very duff apart from one passable number called 'kings road' which has some guitar and drums on it in a fruity stylee, amid the strings...there isnt a break on it, unless my definition of what a break is varies wildly from what would be the norm.

its difficult not to be negative about these people on the strength of that...perhaps others might care to enlighten us about any bargains they have had from them in the past....

Chris - Absolutely my sentiments about Record Girl.

I see mark res and gerald sell the same records but without the bs hype - now why is that?

There are people out there who trust julian and these descriptions and when they get the record they will deffo think again about buying this crap off him. In the end it alienates his customers with his blatant false advertisting.

Ive only ever bought a few things off him and I knew exactly what I was getting - good service, great condition - so its really bewildering a person has to resort to tactics like this just to get an extra £10 on a record.

Oh and he owes a mate of mine a decent sum of money and and its been months without it showing up. Not good.

If you don't like those dealers don't buy from them... it's that simple.
