  • April 2021 finds

The local charity shops in my new suburb have been good for clothes (Boss jacket, Zegna jacket and Zegna shirts), but until today there was little vinyl. Click image for larger version

A number of those will be grip-and-flip.But there are few tracks that I have hopes for.

I am afraid to say that the Delgado, the Almeida, the Perjanik and the Fabulaires will not be going through to the next round.

I have a soft spot for Bud And Travis' 'Cloudy Summer Afternoon'.

I'd keep this one just for the cover.
Done by the drummer Geoff Hassell. Can't find any more credits for him. Reminds me a bit of Joost Swarte (squinting at it on my phone, admittedly).

Kinky Friedman from the 100 yen bin at Disk Union. Quite enjoyable on a Sunday.

From the same bins. I shall become a Kabuki expert after listening to this.

Scott speaking a bit of Japanese, well 2 words, one pronounced wrong, and being generally very serious in his new year fan message flexi.

As so often with Japanese product who cares what's on it. The look of it is reason enough for having it.

It ticks all the boxes doesn't it?

Our new residence is not far from the headquarters of the WA Historical Society. They occasionally have records in their annual book sale (including the copy of Greek Variations I got a few years back). Nothing that speccy today:

"Poolside Music" looks to be Hawaiian. Hipwax rates it 9 of 10!

I almost bought the recorder LP somewhere else recently out of curiosity. This time I did buy it.

Have I had this Burrows before? I have certainly seen it often enough. This time it was too cheap to leave behind.

                    The rest is grip-and-flip.

A nice pile there! I picked up the Japanese version of Tristeza on Piano a week ago for pennies at Disk Union. It's pleasant on the ear. But more pleasant on the turntable.

I’ll give them all a try. Perhaps that one a bit more than otherwise in the light of your comment.

The Don Burrows is a corker! On the lookout for more of his after I bagged this one a while back

that Laurindo Almeida didn't get a UK release. Looks right up my street, this track is pretty cool:
