Except Wimple Winch & The Branded, what other gear had this guy?
D'oh! I was looking for Sounds Incorporated.

He had the Brand (£250), a load of crusty rock'n'roll 45s and EPs, bunch of garage 45s I didn't know.

LP-wise, stacks of Swirls/Harvests/Derams and so on.

Good records but top dollar - 'Valentyne Suite', £100.
We know when a mate buys it for you too.

I know the top side of that Sounds Incorporated 45, VERY odd indeed - what's the flip like?

I've included it in this wee mix - right at the end

That fella who had the Bill Fay for 600? He does have the odd nice thing cheap but only if you're very lucky.

              • ?!

I got some good stuff off him last time he had a 50% sale!

Slightly knackered OG of "Love Live Life + 1" which I'll probably never see again (but sold to pay for other stuff anyway. . . )

Blimey, I thought that was the A-side? In that case, I know the flip - what's the top side like?

Been meaning to pick up Paradise for ages. It's a definite keeper, though I can see some folk baulking at Linda's vocals. Fritz Pauer was a stroke of luck as I'd only found out about him through getting the Mythologie LP in a trade recently and being impressed with his chops on the keys. King Errison was the pick of the finds ... saved me a few bob hunting for the 45 of Zola. Close second though must be the Ghanaian highlife LP at the bottom. Side 1 is a corking sidelong groove, but side 2 sounds like bad calypso. Others are Woody Shaw, Brotherhood of Breath and the '76 issue of Daddy Bug.
I love Paradise and I think Lindas vocals are more accessible on this compared to say 'Black Woman' and 'Monkey Pockie Boo' however Sharrock thought Paradise was a disaster and retrospectively shouldnt have been released, something about his failure as a band leader.

Agreed on Linda, but didn't know that re Sonny. It sounds fine to my ears
Highlife is one that gets consistently slated but I'd still like to hear it.

Ah, funnily enough I listened to Highlife last night, maybe a bit rockist in parts but Chumpy and a couple of the side two tracks make it worth the entry fee I think.

So what's the deal then? I heard it was awash with synths or some such nonsense. Or is it cursed by the hand of Laswell?

Does have Korg M1 in the rhythm section ,but its not too upfront, dont think Laswell hand a hand in this one, certainly not as a player anyway.
