  • With it being Polydor Sie I guess, like Alan states, it will be from very early 90's. I was buying the Jap JB/Fred Wesley LP's around 91 and paying £25 for the pleasure. Binned the obi's straight away obviously

Great to think years later I've bought OG's of the same LP's and paid less on all of them. We really were getting well and truely shafted on music of that ilk at the time!

anyway, it's great and it's got Harry Whitaker aaaaaaaaaaaalllll over it.
I bought alot of these Roy Ayers Japanese pressings when they were released in 93-94 - HMV and Virgin on Oxford St had shelves stocked deep at £31 !! Unlike the original and more recent US repress the Japanese issue didn't have a gatefold cover.

          That'll do nicely

Worth looking out for the live lp reissued at the time as well Sie:

          • Interesting!

I recall the Jap 90's reissues, but looking at Discogs made a (possibly lazy) assumption that there had been a 70's issue too

Were no Roy Ayers LP's released in Japan in the early 70's?
it's OK to head out for wonderful, but on your way to wonderful, you're gonna have to pass through all right. When you get to all right,
take a good look around and get used to it, because that may be as far as you're gonna go.

            • It was a nice weekend, the weather was nice, made a visit on Saturday to the Vinylspot and Demonfuzz in Rotterdam. Bought some records, traded some and went to a flea-market on Sunday.

Listened to some nice records at the vinylspot, many great items to be found. Lots of MPS as you can see

After the Vinylspot I made a visit to Demonfuzz ....

Sunday flea-market was good to the fact I was the only one who was digging vinyl and an early arrival always helps ...

Which left me a first world problem, finally a trade for a friend of mine whom I left in debt with the last trade , also very happy to complete my Nucleus collection ...

              The findzzz

Mongo Santamaria The Watermelon Man ... Cheapo, but great music, I probably have

Ripple ST ... Some rare Atlanta funk, raw stuff

              http://youtu.be/_E3-t-ukBC0

Oliver Sain Blue Max ... Funky instrumental work – grooving hard with a choppy funky sound

              http://youtu.be/CnLsicZLAaQ

Nucleus Labyrinth ... Complete, now I go for the solo records
Oscar Peterson Tristeza ... Not the most exiting record I found, bought due to the cover design, not to bad though
John Brown Junior The Happening ... Filled in the cap, now I got both Roy Budd's alter ego's
Klaus Weiss Drum Box ... Lots of groovy drums ....

Oliver Nelson & Oily Rags In London With ... To much Blues for my kind, Cairo to Benghazi is a great listen

I think 'Roots' would be my favourite mate, Ive got 'Snakehips' somewhere and I can't say it left an impression on me. Ive never picked 'Alley cat' up as I think it would be simular.

Ooof - nice one Sie! Last Nucleus I still need is that - never been lucky enough to nab one at a good price and the UK issue seems to be big money now. I just missed a US one on Waxi - I think US will have to be the way to go for me. How does it compare to the Nucleus LPs from the time Sie? I've only heard the one track that's on 'direct hits'.
