  • February Finds

This morning despite the -18 degree I went to the rendez-vous with idea to buy few records and to take some pictures of the records in stock. For not very clear reason the person didn't allow me to take pictures.
And I took one entire box with CSNY and all around. Total price 153-154 euros (300 bg lev). Good deal I think, but I didn't listen yet the lps.

        Hell yeah. Whassitlike..?

(p.s:- LP to you just gone in post!)
If you're looking for a pristine copy then this isn't the one for you. The vinyl looks like someone has polished their brickwork with it and the label has been ruined by some fool with a pen.

            No Swastikas I'm afraid
Haven't really given it the time it deserves yet - only really needle dropped it - but its much better than I was expecting given the year - 1972

Titles like Ah Doh Lenin and The Bomb might lead you to think that he's tackling issues of wealth distribution and nuclear armageddon. In fact he's wondering why a lady isn't succumbing to his charms
When I get a chance I'll post one or two tracks
He's backed by a horn section that sounds like it was in the next door room when they recorded the record.
            Definately a keeper

He! Sounds nice - I would like to find some really good calypso because the artists appear to be quite nutty (in a good way). Unfortunately I don't like much of it - it's a little too happy and breezy, so if someone has some hints towards a "different calypso" I could check out it would be neat if you started a thread in the natter forum for me - so as not to clog this thread with such a discussion. Is there calypso that is more funky for example? Psychedelic? With weird freejazz outbursts? Or something else that makes it stick out while still retaining the "authentic" nutiness?

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts when you have listened to a few; May I be so bold to suggest you focus on these to begin with...

                            Tonights the Night
                            On The Beach
                            Time Fades Away

The doom trilogy; all damn near perfect. Probably his creative peak. TTN has to be one of the best records ever made.

                            Then...

Rust Never Sleeps, just try not to think about Cobain.
                            Hawks and Doves, overlooked gem.
Everybody Knows..., came back to this recently and, well it was always good, but now seems a more complete record.

After that, Zuma; and Mr Soul off Journey Through The Past (what an odd record). The rest will wait.

At first I bought records, then I started to collect records; now I merely accumulate records.
