                • Ouch on the Bwana. That's been on my wants list for quite a long time. About three-quarters of that time I had no idea what the record was called - I could remember the cover, but not the name.

                  • Some pound box berserker moves from yesterday:

Bugalu! Salena! Francois de Roubaix, a couple of tracks on that French movie soundtrack compilation! Ernst von Dohnyani classical! Some solo bass 80s library?! A replacement for that Thelma Houston album I moved on years ago! Artery clogging fusion in spades! &c, &c.

                    And some more for

Alquin and Gryphon albums hitting the prog spot - I think I can handle the faux-medieval stylings of Midnight Mushrumps nowadays.
I've been after 'Magnets', the second (and last) Vapors album for a while, I love the first one and I've never heard this.
Bit of Cannonball Adderley never did anyone any harm.
Provocatif by John McFarland is ace exotica raer, tons of percussion instruments and bird calling action. This is clearly a bootleg, but even that seems to be sought after.
Jean Leccia Interpolation is super nice funky/soul vocal group.

                    Inpile maximized.

                    • Some nice finds Sonovox, Charles Lloyd for a quid you cant beat that and some other good jazz too. I like the look of that John Mc Farland, never heard of it before. I've never got with 'Gryphon' but I'll no doubt reevaluate at some point now my folky tastes are developing.

I'm listening to it now, and it's absolutely brilliant.

                        • I'll give 'em another go at some point as I did the mighty 'Jethro Tull' and found them great. Talking of pound finds these two today, the first bought on the strength of 'The Groundhogs' connection. Surprised at the value for a reissue, cover needs a bit of pva but record is about VG+or EX will know better when I play it:

Both from the same shop that has a copy of the 'Best of Bread' they have on sale at £3.00. The woman that runs it uses 'ebay' to price the stock

                            • Some interesting names cropping up in that booklet Reza 'Sam Rivers' etc, my french sucks though, still very interesting.

On the subject of my 'John Dunmer' find, seems its not a reissue as I thought of the album 'Cabal' but something else. Its a very rough recording as much of this kind of British Blues is and seems to my ears from various sessions but plays through cleanly enough very reminiscent of 'The Groundhogs' early work in parts and I swear 'Tony McPhee' is on vocals on a few tracks.

It has a seem split and a bent corner so is currently glued and being held tightly wedged on a shelf between some records and a speaker so I cant look on it but there seems to be little info written on there anyway.

Its very much my kind of thing which makes it strange I don't know much about him. Apparently he put together various Blues groups with other famous Brit Blues artists (Graham Bond for one) and would play backing for the likes of 'John Lee Hooker' and 'Muddy Waters' when they came across the Pond to play.

Along with Shere Khan mentioning 'Terry Reid' that's two seemingly important figures in the British music scene I know nothing about.

                              • Tony Mcphees' name is on the front cover, so I think that could be a safe bet

That keeps you from being a part of it all
