I'd like to know more about this...Style, year, label, etc...If you don't mind.
Year - 1984, label - Kimstyle music KIM 001 (private pressing?), other musician playing and producer - Kim Nicolaou, recorded in Cyprus, songs in Greek and English (in Greek are better for me). Autographed by Theana/Theano?
Style - Hmmm - new wave -prog with some good funky bass/guitar work and voices that sounds somestime like Blondie period Denis, Denis...(I don't like her), sometimes sublime.
Ordered in March but received today so in April it goes. Had a look at some clips and bid on some other items from the same seller to pick this up. I seem to be on a country/southern singer/songwriter vibe at the moment. This is Gatefold OG is excellent from 1972. I wouldn't be surprised if its been on a swap I've listened to from 2015 or a previous one at some point. :

Thanks! Sounds like another one for me to look out for.
Quick round-up while keeping one eye on Southampton vs Leicester (Come on Saints!! I know I sound like I want to piss on Leicester's fairytale, but I'm from Notts, what can I tell you?!). Twenty20 final in a bit, then I get to watch United shit out another turgid loaf, masquerading as a 'performance' before conceding a late goal to Lukaku, who we should have signed two years ago (probably after Fellaini has been sent off).
Ho hum.
Top left is a trade from Fuz – much obliged mate, it’s a really good listen, exactly my kind of thing in terms of vibe and eclecticism. The usual session suspects, locked into sort of a proggy jazzy groove for the most part. Not sure how I got through life in ignorance of this record. Other three were from a quick pop in a charity shop near my bus stop, I figured I’d got five mins to spare so why not? Never found anything in there before, so this was a nice surprise. The Sweet LP has already been gifted to a work colleague, the Broken Glass I found a bit tepid and was bunged in my ‘Trades’ bag down the market yesterday. Sammy is a strange one, sort of prog / hard rock / glam – almost proto-punk in places. It’s a bit full-on for me, will try to attune to it, but if anyone else needs it, do feel free to shout.
Been in my current job for 18mths and have only just realised that there’s been a charity shop up the other end of the road for ages. Bah. Anyway, took a look in there on Friday and pulled a few things to give away to Plussers at some point. Think these are pretty self-explanatory. Strange to see a Gamba LP in the wild, got excited when I saw the spine, but quickly realised it wasn’t Molly Molloy. Still, there’s a cheeky break on here, but that’s about it. The charity made some money though, which is what counts.

Had time to nip in Anarchy after a recent appointment up that end of town. Not sure if I’ve had the Pete Smith before, but if I have, I’ll be hanging onto it this time. Pure canon fodder, but of a higher quality. I picked up the Beacon comp in case anyone wants a copy. Not that easy to turn up lately. I saw one on a dealer’s stall and he wanted £20 for it, which is just silly boggers really. Can’t make up my mind about the Tubby Hayes set. Obviously, pretty elite band, but it’s a bit ‘straight’ for me. I’ve yet to hear a version of ‘Night In Tunisia’ that didn’t make my toes tap though. Not sure, but don’t be surprised to see this crop up in a future trades post.
Had an afternoon off last week, so did a little tour of some of Nottingham’s satellite towns and picked up a right rum bunch of vinyl. Some of it I knew I shouldn’t buy even as I handed over the gold coins but, again, I can justify it on the grounds of charitable donations! Anyway, canon fodder with Chico Arnez (‘Whole Lotta Love’) and the Latin fromage fest from Bert Melia (another alias?). Bit of Xian action, of which The Advocates sounded pretty good on needle drop and merits further investigation.
This lot was from the same charity jaunt. First three were / are pretty tepid and had to jettisoned down the market. I’m a bit late to the party re: ‘Casino Royale’ as I’ve not seen the film and have only recently started buying soundtracks. Not bad at all is it? Obviously, Bacharach, Alpert and Dusty tells you what to expect and there’s oodles of easiness, some of it a bit arch. But there’s some good wigging out moments too.
These were from another charity shop near my office, went in after work on Friday. I’m keeping one of the Peddlers LPs, but the rest of this selection have been absorbed into the latest round of freebies.
This lot came from Rob’s on Friday afternoon. Mixed results to say the least. Billy Taylor is pure quality and presses the ‘Cop Show Funk’ button quite liberally. Tranquility was so offensively banal that I ‘took it out of circulation’. Kenny Rogers didn’t do it for me, so went in the Trades down the market. Dead chuffed to add another 12” by The Associates though.
Top left is a freebie from Sonovox – thanks for that. Can understand why someone would let it go, I think it could be so twee that it sets some folks’ teeth on edge, but I really like it. Top right was a chazza find on Saturday after I’d done down the market, free to a good home at some point, no doubt. Bottom two (pretty self-explanatory) were from Anarchy a couple of weeks back, but I’d forgotten to list them before.
So, taking a huge bag of vinyl and another of CDs down the market to do some trading, I’ve a) saved some money and b) cleared some space – win / win. I do love my Moroder, so couldn’t resist this coloured vinyl 12” from the Maels. Obviously it now has Partridge connotations, but that’s not a bad thing in my eyes (Incidentally, on the market this week was an exhibition from a local bird of prey sanctuary, I got very tempted to ‘portray a madman’, but didn’t think they’d get it and I’d have ended up looking a twat. Again). Fugazi picked up for my mate, ‘Transmission’ picked up for me (still sounds utterly contemporary and amazing) and I had to grab a bit of G’n’R action. It’s the rules.
Funny that Sagram / Sargam was discussed on the Board in the last few days and then I stumble on one on the market on Saturday. Minty condition (which is rare itself) and up for trade as it’s not my kind of thing. I think folk on here know that they can contact me re: trading any time, don’t wait for me to list stuff up (which I’m a bit slack at). I had the Afro Blues Quintet LP ages ago and it didn’t do it for me at all. As my tastes have changed (and become a tad more tolerant), it’s funny how this is smack bang in the middle of what I’m ‘digging’ at the mo. Ditto Ramsey Lewis, who I’ve always had a soft spot for (One of my first ever ‘finds’ was a sealed copy of ‘Mother Nature’s Son’ on Retford Market, some time around 1990 so Ramsey remains integral to my whole collecting life).
More off the market. Robert Wyatt is the Embassy reissue and was therefore cheap enough for me to take a punt on. Jesus H. You know how Stewart Lee says “I can write jokes, I just choose not to”? I got the feeling that Robert Wyatt could have come up with a coherent tune, but he just chose not to. Never mind the ‘wife’, this bothered me personally. Was fooled by the sleeve on Woody Herman as I’d not seen it before, got it home and realised I’d already got the album as part of a two-fer. Bah. Trades pile here we come. Saved the best til last – ace soundtrack. What I like is, apart from the cool spy-jazz angle, you can hear the dissonance and avant garde touches developing that Goldsmith would late use to greater effect in ‘Planet of the Apes’ (now there's a soundtrack I really should try to dig up). Great stuff regardless. Better than Coburn’s accent in ‘The Great Escape’ at any rate. Sydney via Dagenham. Shambles.
And Leicester have just scored. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not much out there in North Wales at the moment. So some online trawling has come up trumps in respect to long time wants
Alan James EastwoodSeeds.
Even with US copies making appearances online this is still a crazy big ticket item.... Glad to have nabbed a minty copy (with a slighly dog eared copy) for a fraction of the going rate. Lovely orchestrated SSW stuff with the tabla player from Get Charter getting down on a few tracks. Well worth a listen, now i've got this I think I will exploare his non LP 45s on President.... quite a few out there
Deidre McCalla – Fur Coats And Blue Jeans
1973 release on Roulette. This had my spidey senses tingling. No info about it on the internet so I decided to take a punt Afro American Femme Folk with a frankly mouthwatering lineup of sessioners . String section include Kermitt More, Seymour Barbab. Eric Weisberg and Hugh Mccraken on Guitar ect. Alas its a case of over production and a hell of a lot of country leaning on tracks.... it has the same failings as the Florence Warner lp on Epic. Less would have been more. Although her original compositions (there are 3) are nice, there's just too much going on .
Dan JenksSay no More
Shawn Phillips and the fact that the cover features a long haired hippie with a flute got me to take a punt on this. Glad I did. SSW stuff that sounds like a 1970's acid folk release. Heavenly ... have a listen
Nirva Nova – Seeds Of Papai
Chicago jazz funk stuff with a hint of new Rotary connection. It features Phil Upchurch, Morris Jennings, Ron Steele and a host of Ovation / Cadet sessioners... plus nice wordless vocals.... Under the radar but well worth a punt if you dig studd like Don Elliot rejuvination
'Afro Blues Quintet' looks interesting. Since I found that 'Sagram/Sargam' LP a couple of weeks back everyone seems to be stumbling on the thing. Don't think I've seen Tubby Hayes look so 70's before as on that album. I picked up a 'Tony McPhee' on the same 'Phillips' International label sounds like there was some interesting stuff put out through that moniker.
Lol, persevere with Robert the tunes are in there, not as prominent as say 'Rock Bottom' but a great album. Just made me realise I should put 'Sea Song' on the tearjerkers thread!

I saw that Beacon comp with £25 on it earlier today
My copy of the Advocates ended up crossing the Atlantic after a pretty big name US DJ and producer bought it from me
