Nice piece about them here, not sure if it stems from this forum: https://st33.wordpress.com/record-sh...tis-sheffield/

The only other thing I could find was a postscript about them on another site turning up at a church to record some 'Negro Spirituals'.

You fiend, so is it just a mass or some church choir recording then?

No worries. Yes, a few early 70's chappells and some 79/80 ones that look funky as well. Can't wait to get home and listen next week.

Yes, it was a little overwhelming when I realized it wasn't only one or two but an entire bin...!

                        • Doormat Finds from ebay and discogs:

These first 4 are all from the same seller, nice guy when discussing postage.

The Milcho Leviev Quartet ‎– Blues For The Fisherman I'd seen this mentioned on here. Live at Ronnie Scotts from 1980:

Buzzy Linhart - The Time to Live is Now I was reading about this guy and he sounded rather nuts and joyful and no one else seemed to want him.

Buzzy Linhart - Buzzy As above this is the follow up to the previous.

James Newton Howard - Same On 'Kama Sutra' like the 'Buzzy' albums think they are US imports as this one has an import cut, I guess I'll find the others do too. For anyone into blockbusters its the same guy who has done various music for films such as 'The Dark Knight' etc. This is some weird progressive thing he did in 1974. Its probably shit but I had to give it a go.

The Peddlers - Live in London The only 'Peddlers' record apart from 'Suite London' I don't own so I made the seller a cheeky offer and got it cheap. It's one I've never seen in the wild and apart from some YouTube clips a few years back 'Me and Mrs Jones' and a couple of others I've never heard it. With Trevor having left by this point to join the guys who did 'The Lone Ranger' song I'd kind of put it down as non essential but its not all that bad to be fair.

John Matthias - Smalltown, Shining Got this very cheap on discogs and had my worries about the seller but record looks excellent.

noticed a few sellers describing cut-outs as "import cuts". It's actually unsold records - shops in the US returned them to the distributor for a refund, the distributor marked them in some way (drill hole, cut corner, spine cut-out notch, etc) and then offered them to shops at a lower price, non-refundable. CDs sometimes got a melted bit or notch cut on the spine, presumably done with a hot wire.

Warehouses of unsold cut-outs were then later purchased by European importers, Sweden seemed to get a lot of interesting stuff - was there an article posted recently about some guy there who ran a huge record shop selling these imports?

                            • Yeah I've always called them 'import cuts' there was talk a while back about 'Powercuts' in Manchester which I believe was previously called 'Yankees' (before my time) or some such. Their entire stock had these cut outs and they used to sell American CD's in the large cardboard boxes which I believe had a name too, great shop. In fact when I see certain records with cutouts from a certain period I pretty much know for certain they came from there. I know a guy nearby who runs a book shop who bought a ton of their stock back in the 90's. I wish I could go back to 1993 for a browse I remember almost every record and CD was either 1.99 or 2.99!

Interesting info because I'd always assumed it was stock imported from the US on the cheap but never really investigated the reason for cut or drill holes you often see just that its always seems to be american records. I've never noticed them on CD's though although saying that I could have seen them on digipak packaging.
